How to Get Invited by the BC PNP: Priorities, Scores and What to Do

In 2026, your BC PNP chances depend on two things: whether you're in a group BC is targeting, and your score. Since April 2026, the program has focused on three priorities: Care, Build and Innovate. BC's 2026 allocation is 6,254 nominations, which it plans to use by December 31, 2026.

The three priorities

PriorityWho it targetsWhat you often need
CarePriority health care occupations, early childhood educators, French-speaking K-12 teachers, veterinary care workersThe right registration or certificate, such as an ECE certificate
BuildCertified construction trades, such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, welders and heavy-duty mechanicsA trade certificate, such as one from SkilledTradesBC
InnovateHigh-impact, highly skilled workers in any sectorA high score, or a high wage and income in a TEER 0 to 3 job

If your job isn't in a Care or Build group, Innovate rounds are usually your main route, and the bar is high.

How the process works

  1. Register online. It's free, and your registration stays in the pool for 12 months.
  2. Get a score based on your answers. Check yours with our BC PNP calculator.
  3. Get invited, if you're in a targeted group and meet the cut-off.
  4. Apply within 30 calendar days of your invitation, with your documents and the $1,750 fee.
  5. If nominated, apply to IRCC for permanent residence.

Health Authority stream applicants skip registration and draws: see the Health Authority stream.

Ways to raise your score

  • Wage: a higher hourly wage directly adds points. Make sure it's real and supported by your job offer.
  • Language: better results in your approved test can add points. Use our CLB converter.
  • Location: jobs outside Metro Vancouver can earn more location points.
  • Experience: directly related experience counts, with extra points for experience in Canada.
  • Education: credentials can add points, and studying in BC or Canada can add more.

Claim only what you can prove. BC checks your application against your registration. If it can't confirm a claim, your score can drop and you may be refused.

The Skilled Worker and Health Authority streams need a BC job offer. See the BC PNP guide for each stream's rules.

Are there BC PNP tech draws?
